The Town and Country Quilters of Joplin, Missouri, was established in 1985. Our purpose is to promote the art and craft of patchwork and quilting. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the craft, from beginner to the professional. Annual dues are $15.00. We invite you to visit our general monthly meetings at First Presbyterian Church, 6th and Pearl, Joplin Missouri. We meet the 3rd Tuesday every month at noon for a pot luck luncheon. An educational program, show and tell,  and a business meeting start at 1 p.m. You will be a part of a great group of people who share the same interest as you.

Community Service is a huge part of our organization.  This year we have completed 171 quilts that will be distributed at the October meeting.  Quilt recipients this year, as voted by the membership, are

  • Children's Center
  • Children's Haven
  • Crosslines
  • Lafayette House
  • Life Choices
  • Neosho Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center

In addition to these donations, two special fundraising quilts were given to Crosslines and the Joplin Area Agency for Aging;  walker bags were created for patients in nursing homes; place mats were made for recipients of Joplin Meals on Wheels that will be used for their Christmas meal; small fidget quilts were built for patients suffering from dementia; and pillow cases were constructed for residents at Turn Around Ranch. These are all examples of organizations that we supported in 2017.

Our Next Meeting

Our September meeting will be on Tuesday September 19th.

Come join us for lunch, and a fun, inspirational meeting!

The September 19th speaker will be Raija Salomaa, quilt pattern designer from Rogers, Arkansas. Her business, Quilters' Treasure Chest, sells both paper and digital patterns and quilt inspired blank note cards.   Her trunk show and lecture will begin at 1 p.m.
